I don't know why this is still such a hanging point for these cars. I love my R, and I may be biased, but if you want to take shots at it make them constructive. Let's not get hung up on something that can be (un)done by paying a local shop a few bucks. There's even a website that gives you the code!!!! … » 1/20/15 8:50pm 1/20/15 8:50pm

Maybe I break that mold? I do not believe in over-paying for a vehicle so I'm not going to pay a premium over MSRP (and I will fight to get as close to invoice even on a niche car like this). IF they brought this over though, I'd trade in my R and take it off of my local dealer's hands. » 11/19/14 8:50am 11/19/14 8:50am

I get between 25-28mpg on the highway in my R. Remember, our gearing is different than the GTI's...especially the DSG's. Since the R's engine has different cams and a power band that is better suited for high revs the gearing is much different. At 80MPH, my R is @ 3300RPM approx. My GLI 6spd would do 80MPH @ 3000RPM… » 12/23/13 10:08am 12/23/13 10:08am

What does a Tool Represent to You?

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a thing for tools. Sometimes, I will get more wrapped up in the actual tools rather than the particular trade or technology in which they are used. Maybe it’s my mild OCD, or possibly the interest in the precision and engineering that go into making these tools. They’ve… » 10/14/13 10:28am 10/14/13 10:28am

A word of advice from somebody who switched majors repeatedly and struggled to find direction...AND ended up in telecom after studying finance.... Work through it. Even if you have ADD like myself sometimes you have to work through it and just not let the other BS get to you... » 10/10/13 8:02pm 10/10/13 8:02pm

I had a similar situation when I drove up to Moroso years back in my AP1 S2000 (which was strictly modded for autocross) to amateur Imports vs Domestics at Moroso. All my buddies told me to run over and register and get a couple of runs in. I had an amazing reaction time and 60-Foot...but that Grand National RAN by me… » 10/09/13 7:03pm 10/09/13 7:03pm

Car Detailing for the Lazy Car Owner - Part 1

There was a time I loved washing my cars. Really, I did. I used to have wash days with friends who were car fanatics as well and we’d whip out our 3 Stage Meguiar’s Polish & Wax (Yes, this is before clay bars and single high end waxes went mainstream) and spent all day washing our cars. If I told my wife I was going… » 10/08/13 10:45am 10/08/13 10:45am

As a a lover of all Z's Z32 and down, and having driven both, I think the 240Z is the car to have. There is some truth to the 280Z being better put together and one can argue that the Fuel Infection is more reliable... But the 240Z is a different animal. The butt dyno told me it was faster and the sound of the… » 10/03/13 12:26pm 10/03/13 12:26pm

As my handle suggests, I've had many VW's. My father had this particular model R32 and I drove behind him on many occasions and never saw any 'flapping'. I had a GTI of the same generation and did not have any flapping on my rear valence (saw my car on video many times) Maybe an improper exhaust installation? Broken… » 10/03/13 8:58am 10/03/13 8:58am
